I have been fascinated by knives since I was a small boy. In 2004 a very good friend of mine, Wayne Whitley of Chocowinity, NC, offered to teach me how to make knives. I had been a Harley-Davidson technician for about 10 years, so was used to working with my hands, and I jumped at the chance. After 3 1/2 months of working with Wayne, I took my first 6 or 7 knives to the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild Knife Show in Winston-Salem, NC and won the Best New Maker Award for 2004. At that point, I was hooked. The next year I went to the Ohio Valley Classic Knife Show in Cambridge, OH and won the Best New Maker Award for 2005. Since then I have moved from Greenville, NC to Batesburg-Leesville, SC and I became a full time Knifemaker in 2007. I am currently a member of the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild and The American Bladesmith society.
I make most of my knives from a modified 10-90 high carbon steel. I also make my own Damascus steel using 10-95 and L6. I have also used stainless steel and will gladly do so on request. I usually don't keep stainless steel knives in my inventory but if you are interested in one please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks For Looking,
Bill Roberson
